Compensation range: $81,000-$93,000/year

 

The base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.

 

Location: Remote, if in the Seattle area, role will be Hybrid, in office 3 days a week

Position Summary

Position Overview: The FF&E Designer serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Client Workplace Guidelines and FF&E design, with a focus on creating functional, standards interior finish selections ready for orders. This role is responsible for developing and managing project specifications for workplace projects.

The FF&E Designer collaborates closely with the Splice Amazon Project Lead and broader project team to understand project-specific requirements, performance goals, and constraints that impact client service delivery. The designer is accountable for preparing, coordinating, and maintaining detailed FF&E packages, including furniture plans, client facing design packages, specifications, finish selections, and installation documentation, while ensuring furniture selection integrity, constructability, and alignment with client standards. This role while not Space Planning specific will involve some space planning responsibilities from time to time.

 

Essential Functions:

Customer Expert

  • Maintains current knowledge of the Client Workplace Guidelines and detailed expertise on the Furniture Program, which define Client expectations of Furniture scope for all projects.

 Scope Management

  • Identifies specifications and design solutions that are above Price CAP, outside existing approved standards, or industry best practices and communicates with project team (Designer, Project Lead, Project Coordinator, Project Manager)
  • Manages development and research of appropriate alternatives or obtains approvals by project lead appropriate for exceptions.
  • Coordinates with Lead Project Manager for scope of impacts on labor or service hours.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of risks, proposed solutions, approvals, and final specifications.
  • Create initial project specifications using Project Spec and/or CET.
  • Completes daily accurate time tracking for all individual project work.

Communication Management

  • Produces regular status updates, and as needed, timely communications regarding risks/urgent matters, for internal team.
  • Manages the key interfaces with the project team.

Furniture Ordering

  • Helps manage project deliverables and deadlines for internal project teams (design, Sourcing, Installation) based on project requirements and client needs.
  • Supports development of installation drawing plans, and resolution to ensure timely install.

FF&E Expertise and QC

  • Reviews of design and product specifications to ensure customer guidelines, programming, and language design are applied.
  • Reviews of specified products for guidelines performance: appropriate approvals, sit tests, quality, durability, user experience, and safety.
  • Regular reviews with external project team members to ensure all parties are up to date on revisions and changes.
  • Ensures all quality control practices are implemented per process: plan to spec, specification review, appropriate double checks, green stamp for accuracy of ordering per specification.
  • Maintains all critical project documentation for quality control & accuracy: PAL (Project Action Log), spec version control, standard count, floor plans, installation information.

 

Primary Work Relationship

Architect, internal project team, coordinator, lead project manager, FF&E design.

 Skills and Abilities

  • A. Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architectural Studies, or relevant degree.
  • 1-2 years in the design field, supporting design development of projects and specification writing, or combination of education and experience to perform essential duties.
  • Familiarity with standard drawing document packages, primary spec, building systems coordination, AEC Process.
  • Knowledge in design, furniture, fixtures and equipment specification development.
  • Experience managing templates updates, quality double check, and installation drawings creation.
  • Experience in FF&E preferred: design, specification writing, sales, procurement, asset management, internal documentation quality control.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, ACAD, Revit, CET, Project Spec, Smartsheet and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in developing presentation methods, layout, medium to express design and project concept.
