Compensation range: $127,000-$145,000/year

 

Location: Seattle or Remote

 

The base salary will be determined based on your location, experience and the pay of employees in similar positions. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

The design program director has a high degree of external client interface. Works closely with clients/client representatives to understand and build clear expectations surrounding project requirements including but not limited to design program requirements, milestones, deliverables, and deadlines. Defines and manages project budget and scope, ensuring accuracy for reporting while maintaining profitability expectations. Ensures communication plan is in place for all stakeholders to ensure all project requirements are met from beginning to close.

  • Must be committed to mentor and develop designers, possess a positive attitude and inspire team.
  • Responsible for making informed decisions, exercising prudent judgment with minimal guidance.
  • Manage and meet the client’s needs, budget, and timeline.
  • Cultivate partnership relationships among clients, partner vendors with pertinent internal One Workplace teams.
  • Oversee budgets.
  • Track and maintain design/FF&E projects.
  • Forecast and monitor operating performance of design managers/supervisors workloads to ensure service standards are achieved.
  • Collaborate with core team and leaders to lead strategy to develop solutions and lead team through implementation and completion
  • Responsible for reporting status of individual and groups of projects and programs. Provide appropriate levels of detail and summarize complex issues succinctly
  • Review departmental performance, analyze results, and provide reports to client and senior leadership
  • Prepare business and strategic plans and identify metrics for success.
  • Develop and deliver innovative strategies and tools to target new and current clients.
  • Expand and identify current and new business projects by strengthening client relationships.
  • Gather, analyze and interpret engagement data and formulate recommendations.
  • Develop solutions for complex client situations to ensure meeting of goals and objectives.
  • Review staff performance.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with the ability and credibility to work through all levels of the enterprise as a business partner and change agent.
  • Ability to build relationships with Senior Leaders and provide coach and counsel on sensitive diversity and inclusion topics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive attitudes toward company goals.
  • Knowledge of interior design principles, to include texture, color, form, function, materiality balance, rhythm, repetition, proximity, symmetry, biophilia, historical precedent, sustainability, Gestalt, symbolism, cognition and perception.
  • Understanding of Design Thinking methodologies and mindset.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to creatively solve complex challenges.
  • High degree of empathy with the ability to understand issues from the perspective of others.
  • Ability to travel (25% of the time)
  •  Experience with CRM, ERP, Accounting and other business applications.

 Skills and Abilities

  • B.A. Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architectural Studies, or relevant degree. 
  • 7-10 years Project Management experience in design field, or combination of education and experience in order to perform essential duties
  • Solid understanding of Project Management Principles (PMP).
  • Direct experience leading project communication of scope & risks, to external partners and/or client
  • Knowledge in design specification development
  • Thorough understanding of systems furniture and the Design to Construction process
  • Budget Development & Management
  • Experience in FF&E preferred: design, specification, sales, procurement, asset management, etc.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc
  • Knowledge use/of AutoCAD/Revit
  • Knowledge use of CAD associated specification tools
